Every named element on the Periodic Table is profiled in The Elements
by Theodore Gray. Information varies from how it was discovered to what the current applications are (if there actually are any) to historical (and sometimes crazy) uses. For the elements that can be pictured, there are full color images of the element itself, things containing the element, and/or things related to the element. There is humor sprinkled throughout along with the author’s very specific opinions on certain things such as Himalayan sea salt, homeopathic remedies, and incandescent light bulbs. Because of the easy to understand language and descriptions, you don’t have to be a scientist to enjoy The Elements.

I really want to get this book. It looks fascinating. Next year my son will be taking chemistry. I think this would be a great book to have as a resource.
