Ozma of Oz by L. Frank Baum

Dorothy is shipwrecked (along with a hen named Bill) on a fairy island where she encounters the Wheelers and rescues the machine-man, Tik-Tok. Along with Ozma, the Tin Woodman, the Scarecrow, and a group of soldiers, Dorothy, Tik-Tok, and Bill(ina) attempt to rescue the Queen of Ev and her ten children from the Nome King before they all end up as ornaments decorating the underground palace.

While there was some fun wordplay in Ozma of Oz, the third Oz book by L. Frank Baum, it wasn’t as often as in the previous books. The story was quite enjoyable, but it wasn’t my favorite. It dragged a bit at times. The way the Nome King’s secret was learned was amusing. I recommend reading this book to everyone who enjoys the land of Oz.
