Carter and Ridge are no longer friends, but they both still remember the spell to bring people back even though they’ve given the book back to Aldo. In The Jewel Thief, the second book in the Ranch City Academy series, Ridge brings back a jewel thief and Carter has to figure out how to stop him. My 8- and 10-year-old boys really enjoyed the book. It’s very short and simple and a quick read even for an elementary schooler reading to themselves.
